Some of the projects I've worked on and a little more information about them.

STREAMING SETUP AND ASSETS

DESIGN BRIEF

CLIENT: JASON FENEX / TWITCH STREAMER
“I’m looking for something fun but also shows my serious gaming side. I’d like it to show my character Jason in the logo and his personality.
My channel is educational, fun but also professional in its presentation.”

SOLUTIONS

Mixing the serious and fun nature that was requested was an interesting experience. Using the stern look of the black
and white linework and the bright colours of the character achieved the unique perspective of the client.

PROCESS

I started by sketching a few ideas using the character's head and two main letters of his branding J and F, but quickly decided against it due to the JF Kennedy correlation.

I then consulted with the client which ideas he liked and explored those further. Next, I met with the client again and a logo was decided on to start experimenting with.
Once taken into Illustrator I played around with colours and silhouettes and we eventually
decided on the final design.

Relying on the colour of the design to bring in the fun of the channel, the sketches I started with focused more on the serious side.
I experimented with silhouettes that I knew would help the logo stand out and used the characters unique shape to help aid that design.

DESIGN BRIEF

CLIENT: JASON FENEX / TWITCH STREAMER
“Im looking for a chibi of my character in Valkyrie’s outfit from the game Apex Legends, i’ve attached a pose and the outfit. I want this to be displayed while im playing the game, maybe in the corner.”

SOLUTIONS

I didn’t want this image taking up too much of the screen since the game is the focal point and we don’t want the to clutter the screen.
I focused on minimizing the detail of the costume
and taking away any copyright logos while
still keeping them recognisable.
Taking larger parts of the outfit and compressing them
to minimise the image while still keeping key details.

DESIGN BRIEF

CLIENT: JASON FENEX / TWITCH STREAMER
“I’m looking for a GIF tuber, one talking and one idle with a blink. Maybe have his hand move when he’s talking, I gesture a lot when I talk so that’d be nice. Max the character should only show half his body, it’ll be used when I’m not up for using my face cam while streaming.”

DESIGN BRIEF

CLIENT: JASON FENEX / TWITCH STREAMER
“I’d like to update my character and give him a few more things
that make him unique. I’d like to keep his cheek, diamond, eye and
moon tattoos for sentimental reasons. The cheek tattoo I want to stay there
but the rest can move. I love Crash   Bandicoot and Doom,
anything video game related. I want to add my glasses to
the character as well to connect him more to me.”

SOLUTIONS

I wanted to make sure that the tattoos meshed with the character and weren’t randomly placed around the characters body.
Keeping a lot of the characters original design elements, I suggested a sleeve with the original tattoos while adding some new ones. This created a nice asymmetry to the character while also bringing in a unique design aspect that helps them stand out.

PROCESS

Working closely with the client, I started by drawing up and creating the turnaround line art, this served as a base to add colours and play with the design.
Once deciding on the design with the client, I finished rendering the reference sheet for the character along with the colour codes and some basic info.

SPORTS DRINK DESIGN

DESIGN BRIEF

“We need you to create a brand and bottle design for a sports
drink company. It can be any sport of your choosing.
We need a bottle design, poster, logo, branding and promotional material.”

SOLUTIONS

I chose to go with a recently growing market, E sports.
In order to get the attention of the gaming community, I stuck to a shape
that is already known, the can. Not only does this keep it clean and
easy to read but has that sense of familiarity.
I focused on the look, references and energy that is connected to gaming.
Over time is a gaming term used for when the gaming is going over
the set time limit, players are often given less ability to cool down,
more damage or quicker movement.
